Hey, thanks for the feedback! You're right, the player controls are disabled to prevent ads from sneaking back in. I found that re-adding them causes ads to reappear—I'm not sure about the exact mechanics behind it, but it seems tied to Twitch's ad system. Using the right mouse button (RMB) for pausing/playing works perfectly for me on LibreWolf (a Firefox fork) and should do the trick for you too.
