Is it possible to identity a url and a graphics name etc etc

Is it possible using a script to ;

a) identity the site url
b) detect if an image is shown on the page OR ;
detect if the cursor is hovering over a specific image
c) if so popup a lightbox or just a dialog and in that - display some info that is retrieved from a remote server.
the info retrieved would be using the info gathered initially - the site url and if possible the image name.
