edit: and immediately after removing the script from violentmonkey and refreshing yt, it is much faster.

Yes. I believe that your linux PC might not have display card. This script requires GPU to do the timing stuff.

It does work. I wouldn't say it significantly improves yt speed but yeah it doesnt slow it like this script and is slightly faster than regular without the script.
