This should be fixed now, I've integrated that script that q1k mentioned in another feedback.
Still broken. I hate how the damn controls take up the bottom of the video player. It's a big issue!

Thank you so much for the update. I really hate the youtube ui that blocks view on mouse hover. You are a saviour.
The status bar and video time does not auto-update anymore unless hovering mouse over it. Please fix! I have been using this for years and finally it is useless without an update! Thanks for your help.
